Waltech Plc is a UK holding company that was founded in 2003 to funds, operates and provides value added management to specific technology projects as an accelerator fund. It was listed in 2004 on PLUS Markets (formerly OFEX). In 2006 Waltech completed two of its original three projects and now focusses on the online payment system market. Correspondingly in 2007 it took out the minority shareholders in Payment Systems Ltd (PSL) and now wholly owns this subsidiary. At the beginning of 2008 Waltech announced its 75% holding in the new subsidiary, iCoins, an online currency provider. Waltech will continue to examine opportunities in the payments space going forwards.
The People
The Board of Waltech Services plc is Chaired by David Vanrenen. Waltech will benefit from his experience in founding and managing companies in South Africa, Australia and Europe. David has served on the Board of Directors for a number of companies during the last five years including Earthport plc and Walton Consulting Ltd.
Waltech is also joined by Managing Director Henry O’Sullivan, who offers years of experience in developing and marketing innovative technology. Henry has built and run internet-based payment systems.At Earthport he delivered payment systems to Egg Bank and BT. As CTO at Pay2 he delivered a pre-paid card platform.
Edwin Scholtz has been appointed Non Executive Director and also serves as a Director for Syncor Power (Pty) Ltd.
Nigel Tose, 63, has over 30 years experience in investment banking, serving as
Co-Head of Corporate Finance at Investec Investment Banking until 2005. Priorto joining Investec in 1994, he held a number of senior positions, both in theUK and overseas, with financial organisations including Lloyds Merchant Bank and Lloyds Bank International.
Peter Reynolds, 67, is Chairman of the Board of Eckoh Technologies plc and is a member of both the Audit and the Nomination Committees and is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee. He is also currently Executive Chairman of Swallow Ventures Limited, a company specialising in CRM software and of Sterling Designs, a highly profitable kitchen manufacturing company. In May 2004, Peter was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of SR Pharma plc and from 1987 to 2002 Peter was Chief Executive of Wilshaw plc.
